Discover Local Wellness Resources at Westlake Porter Public Library’s Health Fair

Learn more about taking care of your health and that of your loved ones at Westlake Porter Public Library’s Annual Health Fair on Saturday, November 8. The fair will include health screenings, health programs, information from various health groups, and a prize drawing.

Programs include:

  • Noon – 1 p.m. Slow Flow Yoga for Beginners — In this pre-event session, yoga instructor Jen Nebraska will lead participants through a slow flow Vinyasa yoga session, linking breath, movement and poses together. Please bring a yoga mat.
  • 1 – 2 p.m. Advances in Obesity Medicine — Dr. Maryanne Haddad will share updates on medical treatments for obesity. Dr. Haddad is an Obesity Medicine Physician at MetroHealth Medical Center. She is board-certified in obesity, sleep medicine, and internal medicine.
  • 2 – 3 p.m. What is EMDR Therapy? — Join Lauren McGowan, Clinical Director and Therapist from Ellie Mental Health, to learn about Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), which helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories.
  • 3 – 4 p.m. Managing Arthritis Pain from a Physical Therapy Perspective — Join Dr. Gina Croft, PT, DPT and owner and CEO of Next Level PT, to learn how to protect your arthritis joints, help with pain, and promote well-being.

Available health screenings will include vision screenings, hearing screenings, cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure & stroke risk assessments. All screenings will be done on a drop-in basis – no registration necessary. In addition to the screenings several area health-related organizations will be on hand to meet and talk with attendees. In addition to the program, screenings and health organizations, attendees will also have an opportunity to register to win a Fitbit Activity Tracker.
