LETTER TO EDITOR: Steve Swidarski Offers New Energy for Bay Village Ward 1: A Fresh Face to Put People First

For too long, Bay Village has seen the same faces tackle the same challenges. Ward 1 deserves a representative who brings fresh eyes, exuberant energy, and a true passion for putting constituents first. My name is Steve Swidarski and I am that choice. I am a fresh face, excited to represent our ward, and I’m ready to get started.

My campaign has been built on genuine, connection. I have personally knocked on over 1,200 doors, hearing directly from you about your hopes and your concerns. I believe constituents deserve to know who wants to represent them. Building relationships starts with a personal connection and it’s a foundation for serving Ward 1.

My platform centers on making Bay Village inclusive and sustainable for future generations. Key issues demand forward-thinking solutions. Take the emerging challenge of e-bike legislation. We need clear, safe, and balanced ordinances that accommodate new technology while protecting our pedestrians and preserving the character of our shared spaces. We must also address the needs of our longest-standing residents by actively seeking creative, compassionate solutions for senior housing that allow our elders to age in place within the community they helped build.

But I believe in looking beyond today’s problems to tomorrow’s possibilities. Bay Village can and should be a model for the future. We can take bold steps toward clean energy and sustainability, from investing in green infrastructure to exploring options for community-wide renewable energy initiatives. My vision is a Bay Village that leads by example and a place where environmental stewardship is woven into the fabric of city planning.

This is a critical moment. If you are ready to embrace a candidate who is passionate, energized, and dedicated to putting people first, then I am the right choice. My family and my roots are here; I have a deep stake in our future and the tenacity to see meaningful, long-term change through.
