“I’m Running for Reelection as Your Mayor — Let’s Keep Building Together!” – Mayor Paul Koomar

After much thought, and with encouragement from my family, staff, and many of you, I’m excited to be running for re-election as Mayor of our great City. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together and have a renewed sense of purpose to keep going and make Bay Village even better.

With more than 25 years of service to our community, including the past eight and a half years as Mayor, I’ve worked hard to lead with openness, fiscal responsibility, and a hands-on approach. Managing a $42 million budget and nearly 200 employees, I approach City Hall much like a well-run business: ensuring efficient operations, strong leadership from our Directors, and open communication with City Council, all guided by the goals of our City’s Master Plan.

Over the past several years, we’ve made real, visible progress across Bay. In public safety, we’ve strengthened our police and fire forces through training, new equipment, and smart hiring – and I’m proud to note that Cleveland Magazine recently ranked Bay Village the #1 Safest City on the Westside for 2025. We’re also planning for a new, modern fire station and continue to invest in the tools and people who keep Bay safe every day.

Our infrastructure has seen major improvements, from the rebuilt Wolf Road with new bike lanes, to multiple street and bridge repairs and comprehensive upgrades to our sewer and stormwater systems. Plus, the new EQ Tank in Cahoon Park and more than $3 million in testing and repairs that lay the groundwork for long-term reliability. We’ve also made great strides in our parks and waterfront areas, with new walking and bike trails, the interurban bridge, and open green spaces like the new Village Green. We’re investing in our tree canopy and working to enhance access and enjoyment of our lakefront and Bay Point.

And our local retail and business economy continues to thrive with renewed storefronts, active gathering spots, and a strong sense of community spirit. But my work isn’t done. With your support, I’m ready to build on our momentum — creating new partnerships, new projects, and a shared vision that keeps Bay strong, safe, and connected.

I’d be honored to earn your vote on Election Day. Let’s keep building together. Bay deserves steady, caring, and proven leadership for the road ahead. Join me!
