Home Instead and Benjamin Rose have teamed up to arrange for and provide no-cost respite care to family caregivers who care for a family member suffering from dementia. Home Instead was recently approved as a home care respite provider as part of Medicare’s Guide program. GUIDE, which stands for “Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience,” is a model that tests the impact of providing comprehensive services and support for people with dementia. It will run for the next 7 years.
Geoffrey Moore, owner of the Home Instead offices serving the western suburbs of Cuyahoga County, noted, “we are so pleased to be working with Benjamin Rose to provide a helping hand to family caregivers in our service area. Their Care Navigators make the process easy and seamless. Add that Medicare will cover the cost makes this a great option for caregiver relief.”
As an approved provider, Home Instead will deliver up to $2500 worth of respite care paid by Medicare, annually, for each qualified recipient. That equates to approximately 70 hours of cost-free care.
Eligibility for the no-cost GUIDE program is simple. The participant must:
- Be experiencing some degree of cognitive impairment – but does NOT need a formal diagnosis
- Be enrolled in Medicare Part A and B
- Not be enrolled in hospice or PACE or Medicare Advantage plans
The first step to arrange for services is to contact Benjamin Rose. Their WeCare program provides families with guidance and coordination at no cost. Simply call the WeCare helpline: (216) 373-1797 or email wecare@benrose.org
