Bay Village Historical Society Continues its America 250 Series

Join the members of the Bay Village Historical Society at Rose Hill Museum, 27715 Lake Rd. in Bay Village, for a series of discussions highlighting America’s 250th anniversary.

John Harkness will give a presentation about weapons of the American Revolution on June 7. The discussion will feature a collection of First Model Brown Bess muskets and bayonets used by British soldiers, as well as short swords carried by Grenadiers and officers, styles from 1741 and 1752.

Join the historical society outside at the Cahoon Memorial Park Gazebo for a live history presentation with reenactor John Burke on June 14. Discover the Native American history of Northwestern Ohio, including stories of the Lenape/Delaware Indian Captain Wolf, a War of 1812 veteran who lived on Chippewa Lake. Bring chairs or blankets. In case of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to the Bay Village Library.

Historical society member Stephanie West will lead a foraging walk on June 28. The tour will highlight what pioneers had to endure and search for in the early days of Dover Township. This is a walking tour, so wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

Marge Gulley will present a brief historical discussion on Cleveland’s first prominent settler, Lorenzo Carter, on July 12. The talk will highlight one of Rose Hill Museum’s most treasured artifacts and one of Cleveland’s most storied residents.
