Avon Lake Police Department: Resident Crime Advisory

Avon Lake residents are being advised of recent burglaries taking place within cluster home/ condominium residential areas. While the annual number of burglaries are not disproportional to our surrounding communities, Avon Lake has seen an increase in this type of criminal activity.

Q: When are the majority of these crimes taking place? A: Friday and Saturday nights, between 6 and 9 p.m.

Q: How are the criminals gaining access? A:  By force, typically through the front door.

Q: What items are being taken? A: Small valuables, typically high-end jewelry.

In response, the Avon Lake Police Department is currently doing our best to maintain a high visibility within all residential areas. In addition to targeted patrols, we are actively seeking out and sharing information with surrounding police departments.
