West Shore Loses Beloved Physician Dr. Charles Duncan

It is with heavy hearts that the west side health care community said farewell to beloved physician Dr. Charles Duncan this week.

Dr. Duncan, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 15.

“Charles was a kind and caring physician who touched the lives of many through his charitable works and his skill as a compassionate healer,” said Michael Adornetto, DO, System Medical Director, West Region, University Hospitals Primary Care Institute.

Dr. Duncan was a longtime associate at Westshore Primary Care and continued his affiliation with the practice after it transferred ownership to UH last year.

“He proved to be a quiet leader and mentor to all who had the privilege to work with him over the years, “ added Dr. Adornetto, Westshore Primary Care founding physician. “His love for his family, patient and for the practice of medicine was always evident.”

Dr. Duncan is lovingly remembered by hundreds of patients and families.

“I can still see & hear him walking into the exam room and saying “Well, hello there young man!” recalls one patient.

“I am heartbroken to hear of Dr. Duncan’s passing,” says another. “He was my doctor longer than any other, and we talked more about grilling, cars, and life more than my ailments. He was my doctor, but more importantly my friend. He will truly be missed.”

“Privileged and grateful to have known and worked w/him @SJ/WSPC for nearly two decades,” says an associate at Westshore Primary Care. “Witnessed his caring and endless compassion with his patients daily. Empathetic. Selfless. Spiritual. Shepherd. Mentor. Gentle Giant. A Dear-Dear Man.”
