WESTLAKE SWIMMERS WIN SCHOLAR TEAM AWARD

Westlake Schools logoSwimDive1213The 2012-2013 Westlake High School girls’ swimming and diving team earned the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) Scholar Team Award, Gold Level, for having the seventh highest GPA in the country – 3.889 – and the highest in Ohio.

The NISCA Scholar Team Award recognizes teams achieving high academic standards. The award is based on the average cumulative GPA of an entire Varsity team of 12 or more athletes. The three levels of recognition are:

·         Bronze Level: 3.200-3.499

·         Silver Level: 3.500-3.749

·         Gold Level: 3.750-4.000

The goal of the award is to recognize academic success in the classroom for the entire swimming, diving and water polo teams, as well as athletic success in the pool.

Team members are seniors Madeline Boardman, Sarah Hannibal, Hanna McCarthy, Elizabeth Raiff and Carson Greco; juniors Christa Beyer, Lucia del Rincon Martinez, Colleen Hoke, Adriana Ivkovic, Madeline Lee and Elise Brizes; and sophomores Rebecca Blair, Cory Carmichael, Maggie Guilfoyle and Rebecca Prexta. Class of 2013 team members were Teresa Blair, Izabela Jamsek, Nora Lee, Sara Schwartzer, Jami Wissman, Vanessa Jacob and Julie Solarz.

Members of the Class of 2013 earning Academic All-American honors (3.75 GPA or higher for graduating seniors) were Izabela Jamsek, Alex Lamorgese, Nora Lee, Sarah Schwartzer, Julie Solarz and Jami Wissman.
