The City of Avon Lake last week announced that the Ford Motor Co. is planning to invest $900 million into the Ohio Assembly Plant located in the community at 650 Miller Road.
“The City of Avon Lake is very pleased that Ford chose the Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake to build a new product line in Northeast Ohio,” said Mayor Greg Zilka.
The plant is also located in Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village as it straddles three communities.
“The investment of over $900 million will create more than 1,500 jobs, as we look forward to the 2023 scheduled date of opening,” adds Zilka.
“The improvements and upgrades will also create revenue for the three communities during the construction process as the building trades will be utilized to make the project a reality.
“Avon Lake City Schools and the Sheffield School District will begin to realize additional revenues after the completion of the facility.
“This is the most significant commitment by Ford to our communities since the plant opened. We will continue to work with Ford and the United Auto Works Local 2000 to make the facility a success for years to come.”
According to the new UAW contract summary released last week, the Avon Lake operations will include: New Product to be added in 2023, Medium Truck will continue, E-series Cutaway and Stripped Chassis will continue, and an All new Super Duty Chassis Cab.
