Celebrating Kindness

Redwood Elementary School in Avon Lake took part in The Great Kindness Challenge last week in a big way.

The school wrapped up a week of activities with an assembly on Friday that also celebrated the 100th day of school on Jan. 31.

The assembly combined the two and featured a visual representation of 100 acts of kindness at Redwood.  The goal was for each classroom in the school to participate in five acts of Kindness to total 100 acts by the end of the week.  Students also wrote the acts of kindness on large red plates that are displayed outside the school.

During the assembly Friday, students watched a short video and each class presented their plates to the school.  One of the classes also won the chance to “Silly String the Principal!”

The students who were awarded the chance to Silly String Redwood Elementary School Principal Lindsey Holeman are third-graders from Mrs. Page Wichman’s class. They had the highest fundraising total for donations to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital collecting over $400.
