Rahul Jain Earns Semifinalist Status in National Merit® Scholarship Program

Westlake City Schools would like to congratulate Rahul Jain for being named a semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit® Scholarship Program. As a semifinalist, he ranks in the top 1% of all high school students nationwide. To continue on in the National Merit Scholarship Program, Rahul must submit a finalist application. If he is one of the 15,000 chosen to be a finalist, he will be eligible for more than $31 million in scholarship awards.

Rahul is a great student and prioritizes learning. He has already completed a clinical internship with the Cleveland Clinic in applied medicine during the summer of 2019 as well as a research internship with Case Western Reserve University during the summer of 2020.

“I like learning new things, especially in science and math,” said Rahul. “Throughout high school, I was motivated by my passion for learning. (My internships) have been my most rewarding accomplishments because of the research and shadowing experiences, friends I made and opportunities I had.”

Beyond high school, Rahul plans to attend medical school to become a physician. He has applied (or will apply) to the Bachelor of Science/MD (Doctor of Medicine) programs (combined admissions medical program) at Boston University, Penn State, University of Pittsburgh, University of South Florida and a few others. He also aspires to study abroad during his undergrad, continue peer tutoring and possibly become a local EMT.

When Rahul is not in school, interning or tutoring, he enjoys playing sports, especially tennis, pickleball and ping pong. He also enjoys driving jet skis and tubing when the weather cooperates. When it doesn’t, he enjoys watching Netflix and going out to eat with friends.
