Avon Heritage Elementary School students (grades 3-5) were treated to a special virtual author visit this week with Louise Borden. She has written over 30 fiction and non-fiction children’s books (a few titles are listed below).
Each grade level participated in a pre-recorded virtual assembly, and then smaller class group live sessions were conducted featuring the author. During the small sessions, Borden answered questions from students, and shared her brainstorming process with students for ‘America Is…’ (title of one of her books).
The author visit served as a jumping off point for the Young Authors writing project that Avon Heritage Elementary School teachers/students can opt to participate in. Students will work over several months to write their own books, based off of what they learned from Borden, and then will have the opportunity to participate in a follow-up meeting with her later in the year to share/celebrate their writing.
A few books by Louise Borden:
- “Across the Blue Pacific”
- “The Journey That Saved Curious George”
- “The Neighborhood Trucker”
- “Baseball Is….”
- “Thanksgiving Is…”
