Bassett School Cub Scouts honor America
Veteran’s Day was observed in a special way at Westlake’s Bassett School on Friday, Nov. 11, as veterans from the community were invited to attend a special assembly, “Respecting Those Who Defend Our Flag.”
A student color guard, a welcome from Principal Mr. SanFilippo and musical presentation by students were all highlights of the program. Keynote speaker was Thomas Bubar, grandfather of a Bassett student and an Army Vietnam Veteran.
Musical presentations included ‘God Bless the USA’ by first graders, a reading of handwritten letters to veterans by students, an Armed Services Medley by fourth graders and an All-Veterans Recognition that included card presentations to veteran guests.
