Westlake Police: Baby Left in Car to ‘Get Fresh Air’

Westlake Police report that a 36 year old Avon Lake woman left her 10 month old son unattended in her vehicle on Oct. 6 while she he did some shopping at a Detroit Rd. store. She left after witnesses called police.

The woman was interviewed at home and stated she wanted the baby to get some fresh air, according to Police.  The Prosecutor will consider a Child Endangering charge; Lorain Co. Children’s Services was also notified.

Thieves Strike on Moving Day

A resident was moving out of his Detroit Rd. apartment on Oct. 6 when he left to run an errand. When the resident came back, a cutlery set, a ring, video games, and his checkbook were gone (total loss $10,900). He may have left the apartment door unlocked.

Teen Attacks Mom

A 54yoa woman was knocked down and choked by her 17yoa daughter on Oct. 8 after mom would not let her child use the car. The daughter was arrested for DV and taken to the DH.

Senior Citizen Slaps Teen

An 82yoa man threatened a 17yoa boy who was visiting a residence nearby the suspect’s home and slapped him as neighbors scuffled on Hall Dr. on Oct. 10.  He was arrested for Assault. The suspect’s 42yoa son was also arrested for DCI and Obstructing Official Business; the latter arose from his hiding a pair of nunchaku he had been seen holding.

Furloughed Prisoner Strikes Nurse

A 29yoa Westlake man complained of chest pains while in the Westlake jail on Oct. 7. He was transported to St. John Medical Center and admitted. He was furloughed from custody at this point and was under court order to return to jail when discharged. Instead, on Oct. 8 he shoved a nurse who was caring for him and exited the hospital. Officers found him in a yard on Stonegate Cr. and arrested him after a foot chase for Escape and Resisting Arrest.
