5 Ways to Commemorate the Day Across Cuyahoga County

Bay Village Mayor Paul Koomar reminds one and all that today is National Recycling Day. Here is some info he is sharing on the subject.

With America Recycles Day just a few days away, the recycling specialists at the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District want to share five best practices for commemorating the day dedicated to teaching people how best to reduce, reuse and recycle.

1. Learn the recycling rules for Cuyahoga County. No matter where you live in Cuyahoga County, you can include cans, cartons, glass, paper and cardboard boxes along with plastic bottles and jugs in your curbside recycling. Always visit CuyahogaRecycles.org for the most up-to-date information about recycling.
2. Take the #BeRecycled pledge at AmericaRecycles.org. It’s easy – more than 70,000 people have said what they’ll recycle and how they’ll do it.
3. Use the hashtag #BeRecycled on social media and spread the word about America Recycles Day and how others can take the pledge.
4. Attend a local America Recycles Day event such as the one being held on November 15 at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
5. Bookmark CuyahogaRecycles.org and follow us on social media for regular updates on best practices for reducing, reusing and recycling.

“We’re dedicated to helping the people of Cuyahoga County reduce, reuse and recycle no matter what day of the year it is,” says Diane Bickett, executive director of the District. “We’re proud to say that in 2016, Cuyahoga County residents recycled 88,747 tons of cans, cartons, glass, paper and cardboard along with plastic bottles,” Bickett adds.

So, on November 15 – America Recycles Day – take a moment to reflect on how you might contribute to helping the recycling effort right in our own back yard.
