WHS Senior Named Coca-Cola Scholar, Receives $20K Scholarship!

Westlake High School senior Jack Wu was named a Coca-Cola National Scholar.

Jack and fellow classmate Norah Wilson were among 250 Regional Finalists from 1,936 Semifinalists selected from more than 90,000 applicants from across the country named Regional Finalists.

Jack is one of only 150 to be named a Coca-Cola Scholar. He will receive a $20,000 scholarship and an all-expenses paid trip to Atlanta to attend the Scholars Leadership Summit.

Scholarships are awarded to exceptional students who excel academically, but are also actively involved in their schools. They are defined as leaders who are passionate and service-oriented, and demonstrate a sustained commitment to bettering their community.

Jack intends to pursue a degree in engineering, either electrical or chemical, saying he enjoys opportunities for problem-solving that come with engineering. At WHS he is involved with Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Academic Challenge, Science Olympiad, and serves as vice president of the Asian American Association. He volunteers at UH St. John Medical Center and at National Chemistry Week, where he teaches chemistry to children at libraries through the American Chemical Society to promote interest in chemistry.
