Cuyahoga County Council Announces Funding Approval for a Community-Based Project in Fairview Park

In Connection with the Community Development Supplemental Grant Program (CDSG)

Cuyahoga County Council is proud to announce the approval of a $50,000 grant award in connection with the Community Development Supplemental Grant (CDSG) program for the 2018 fiscal year. This highly competitive grant program was approved by Council in June of 2016, allocating one million dollars from the Casino Revenue Fund to support community-based development projects throughout all municipalities within Cuyahoga County.

This year Fairview Park is the recipient of a $50,000 grant award to fully implement a playground at the Nelson Russ Park located at Macbeth Avenue. The project totaling $152,268 will provide an innovative play area that is comprised of equipment designed to meet the needs of children of all ages, stages of development and physical capabilities. All playground equipment exceeds ADA requirements and will fulfill the need for more ADA-accessible recreational amenities. Last year CDSG funding enabled the City of Fairview Park to install a pavilion that will be right next to the proposed playground site.

Grant applications are evaluated by the Cuyahoga County Department of Development, which then makes recommendations to County Council for approval. Each grant award is limited to a maximum of $50,000 and administered using the same process as the federally funded Community Development Block Grant Program.
