Avon Lake High School Junior Earns Perfect ACT Score

Congratulations to Avon Lake High School junior, Stephen Forest, 16, for earning a Perfect 36 on the ACT. According to information from the Avon Lake High School Guidance Department, Forest received a 36 in all areas of the test (he did not take the optional writing portion), in addition to his composite. Subject areas include English, Reading, Math and Science. This was his first time taking the test.

Nationally, while the actual number of students earning the top score varies from year-to-year, on average, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn the top score.

“I was surprised to hear I earned a perfect score,” said Forest. “I really did not focus on the test very much as I knew I could take it again.”

In addition to his dedication to his schoolwork which includes taking six Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Avon Lake High School (Calculus, Chemistry, English, Government, and Physics I and II), his high school activities include Math Club and Science Olympiad. His hobbies/interests outside the classroom include coding and programing, and building models.

He is undecided on a college/university at this time. He would like to study either engineering, computer science or math.

The last time a student at Avon Lake High School earned a perfect ACT was in 2011. The school also had a perfect ACT student score in 2010.
