National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6 and ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. At Devon Oaks Assisted Living, an Eliza Jennings community in Westlake, it is a special time to celebrate and honor the exceptional nurses that provide round-the-clock supportive, compassionate care to residents.
Working with the team of dedicated care providers, Devon Oaks nurses provide individuals the level of care they need to enjoy continued independence and purpose in their lives. Nurses are available to assess the need for additional medical or urgent care and help to coordinate those services for the resident, day or night.

Devon Oaks resident Jean E. appreciates that the nurses are there to attend to her medical needs while looking out for her overall well-being. “I like Betsy, my nurse,” Jean remarked. “She makes sure I get the medicine I need to keep me going, and she is always there to wrap a hug around me if I need one.”

Director of Nursing Elicia Mangan, RN, is one of the nurses that have been on staff for more than a decade. “Residents and their families trust and rely on us to provide the assistance they need,” Elicia said. “We strive to get to know each resident and their preferences so they feel right at home.”
