A distinctive program offered by The Gardens at Westlake, “The Residence Club,” supports individuals with mild memory loss or confusion while also allowing them to flourish in a less-restrictive environment than secured memory care.
The activity program is delivered by a dedicated Life Enrichment Specialist trained specifically to support residents with memory loss.
Members meet at breakfast before taking part in a variety of daily activities. “This allows an individual to retain self-confidence and dignity while living independently within a caring environment in their assisted-living apartment,” said Rosey Cichon, Area Director of Operations for Spectrum Retirement.
“We wanted to offer a program for our residents who would benefit from a safety net that an extra set of eyes and an extra set of activities developed for their needs would fill,” said Cichon.
Under the direction of Linda Burgess and Lisa Perez, the Club – limited to 10-12 residents – meets daily for special activities and guidance to help them maintain normal daily activities.
At Gardens at Westlake, “We believe that many residents who live in our communities could flourish in a less-restrictive environment than secured memory care,” said Cichon.
As the first community in the multi-state Spectrum Retirement family of senior living resources to offer The Residence Club, the program is designed to be both unique and stimulating.
As part of Spectrum’s Path to the Present Memory Care Program, The Residence Club provides a more structured daily routine with supervision to help residents retain as much independence as possible. Weekly updates are provided to family members.
