Bay Recreation Dept. Seeks Swim Team Coach 

The Bay Village Recreation Dept. Swim Team is looking for a Swim Team coach for the 2018 summer season. This City run program boasts over 200 participants yearly – last year there were 230 members. The team is very competitive and was undefeated for the 2017 Season!

There are multiple coaches per age group and successful parental involvement with volunteering at the swim meets.

Bay Village belongs to the North Coast Swim League and there are eight other teams in the league including: Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, Fairview Park, Mills Creek, North Olmsted, Rocky River and Westlake

JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD SWIM TEAM COACH-Seasonal position

We are looking for a Head Swim Team Coach who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and will help our swim team members improve their swimming skills in our recreational pool. This position would entail writing and leading swim team group workouts according to a season plan, developing and coaching swim team coaches, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of our Aquatics Facility.

Position requires a minimum of 2 years swim coaching experience. Swim lesson instruction experience and one year customer service experience preferred. Must be certified in CPR, First Aid and AED. Lifeguard certification and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification is preferred.

St. Raphael Parish Lenten Fish Fry

Join St. Raphael Parish, 525 Dover Center Rd., for their Lenten Fish on March 2, March 9, March 16 and March 23 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. in the St Raphael Parish Activity Center.

The Fish Fry features Adult, Children and Senior Dinners. Entrée choices include fried fish (Perch), baked fish (Haddock), fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese or Pierogies. Sides also available: macaroni & cheese or Pierogies. All meals include French fries, coleslaw, roll w/butter and homemade dessert. Iced tea and lemonade will be served. Soda will be available for purchase. Please join us every Friday during Lent to enjoy an evening of good food, good fun, laughter and friendship! Adult dinners: $13. Bay Men’s Club Baseball 

The BMC Baseball player registrations opens online on March 1st at www.BMCBaseball.Com.

Boys Current Grades 1st – 6th $85; Boys Current Grades 7th – 12th $100.

Boys are placed in their respective leagues by current school grade. The youngest league is open to boys who will be 7 years old as of August 1. Boys turning 7 years old after August 1 are encouraged to register with the Bay Recreation Department for the “Sixers Baseball League”

We need volunteer coaches at each age level!

Registration Deadline: March 31. After that, $40 late fee and registration cannot be guaranteed.

Practice begins First Saturday of May, games begin Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The season concludes 2nd week of July.

Village Project – NOURISH

Don’t miss The Village Project’s biggest fundraising gala of the year, Nourish! This spectacular event will be held March 3 from 6 – 10 p.m. at Hyland-Building 3, 28105 Clemens Rd. in Westlake, Ohio. All proceeds from this evening ensure that we continue to provide the meals and extended services so needed by our clients in the most caring, thoughtful and economical way possible.

Please join them as we care for one another, taking time to build relationships, sharing ourselves and our resources to better our community.

All proceeds directly benefit their clients by enabling them to continue their mission of providing nourishing meals and extended care and service to our neighbors experiencing cancer. To date, Village Project has served more than 25,000 meals to more than 250 families in your cities. Village Project boasts over 600 volunteers, ages 2-90 years old serving through cooking, gardening, shopping, delivery, yard care, client relations and more. They’ve experienced over 600% growth since our inception in 2010 and facility expansion plans are now in progress.

Nourish guests will be taken on a culinary journey to different food stations representing the many aspects of Village Project. Guests will celebrate the many ways Village Project serves both their clients and the community. One event ticket costs $100 and includes food, beer and wine, music, entertainment and free valet parking.

This year, will feature amazing silent-auction items (on-line bidding to be available the week before the event), raffle baskets, a $3,000 Grand prize vacation raffle, gift-card drawing and wine-pull (new this year) and special, Tribute Lanterns. The lanterns are free, will be displayed at Nourish and are dedicated to a loved one that is currently fighting or has fought the battle. If you are unable to attend, individuals can still purchase raffle tickets for the vacation giveaway. Grand-prize raffle tickets are 1 for $20 or 3 for $50.

Deadline to purchase tickets is FEB. 19TH (we will still accept late registrations, however no tickets will be sold at the door).

Saint Raphael Drama Club Presents Shrek the Musical Jr.

The Saint Raphael Drama Club,525 Dover Center Rd., has been hard at work since September to bring you a most anticipated performance of: Shrek the Musical Jr. Performances are: Sat., March 3, 7 p.m.; Sun., March 4, 3 p.m.; Sat., March 10, 7 p.m. and Sun., March 11, 3 p.m.

You also will have a chance to have lunch with the characters! On March 4 and March 11, join the cast for a “swamp bucket” lunch provided by Well Done Catering and the SRS Cooking Club. Co-Op Carnival

The Cooperative Preschool of Bay Village invites children of all ages & their families to the annual Co-Op Carnival at the Bay Village Middle School Cafeteria on Thursday, March 8 from 6 – 8 p.m. Featuring Carnival Games, Face Painting, Photo Booth, Crafts, Bake Sale and more! The games and activity booths require tickets that are purchased upon entrance to the carnival. Ticket purchases are cash only. Bay Village Kiwanis together with the Bay High Key Club presents Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Sun., March 18 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Bay Middle School Cafeteria, 27725 Wolf Rd. Lake Erie Nature & Science Center Eggstravaganza

The Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, 28728 Wolf Rd., presents Eggstravaganza for children ages 1-8 (with an adult). Hop on over to this popular seasonal program! Learn about eggs, bunnies and all things spring. This educational program includes a small kid-friendly egg hunt with allergy conscious take-homes. Cost is $8/child.

A Message from Bay Village VFW Post 9693

February 28, 1991 was the official Cease Fire to the Gulf War. This year marks the 27th Anniversary. There are not many tributes to this event, but the VFW wants to ensure that all those who served are not forgotten. Thank you for your brave and dedicated service to our country.

As Bay Village VFW Commander, I want to ensure that if you are not a member, you are aware of the existence of our Post and may consider joining and serving the community and continue your unselfish service to our country. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Bay Village Police Dept. Community Room at 7 PM. Hope to see you there!

We could use more men and women from your era in our activities. We support local scholarships, veteran support, and community efforts. One example is our work to establish a Veteran’s Honor Wall at the Dwyer Center. We need to continue these efforts into a new generation.
