On 1/14/22 at approx. 9:15AM WPD received information from a neighboring department that the occupant of a Toyota Camry was waving a gun around while traveling on I90 E/B. WPD officers located the vehicle and stopped it in Rocky River. The 24yo male driver was cooperative but was found in possession of a loaded handgun along with suspected marijuana. The gun and drugs were confiscated. The man was sent on his way but was cited with Improper Handling of a Firearm.
Do Not Drink Fireball Before Driving
On 1/14/22 at approx. 9PM a concerned citizen called WPD to report a possible OVI of a vehicle leaving the Speedway on Dover Center. The caller had seen the male driver stagger around the store and proceed to drink a bottle of Fireball before driving out of the lot. Officers located the described vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 34yo Westlake resident. The driver could not remember his address and appeared intoxicated. He was field tested and arrested for OVI. He refused a breath test at the Westlake Jail. Officers noted that the man had 3 prior OVI convictions on his record.
Drug Use in Parked Vehicle
On 1/15/22 at approx. 8PM an officer patrolling the parking lot of the Extended Stay Hotel on Clemens checked on 2 persons in a parked vehicle. Evidence of drug use was detected and an investigation ensued. The male in the driver’s seat was found to have a felony warrant entered from Painesville PD for a probation violation out of a drug possession conviction. The man was arrested and turned over to a Painesville officer. The female in the car was released from the scene after a small amount of marijuana was confiscated. Pills recovered from the male were sent to a drug lab for analysis and possible future charges.
More Drug Use in Parked Vehicle
On 1/15/22 at about midnight, an officer checked on an occupied vehicle parked in the lot of the Double Tree Hotel on Crocker Rd. Noting signs of illicit drug use in the vehicle he investigated further. A white powdery substance along with suspected crack cocaine and marijuana were recovered. The man was arrested and charged with possession.
Juvenile Shoplifters
On 1/20/22 at approx. 6:30PM officers were called to the Rally House at Crocker Park for juvenile shoplifters. Two 15 year olds had been caught by loss prevention. Both were turned over to their parents and will be charged through juvenile court.
Drinking and Driving
On 01/11/2022, at 0152 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. at Oakmoor for a traffic violation. After speaking with the 62-yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The Avon Lake resident will face charges at RRMC.
Heckling Customers Wearing Masks
On 01/15/2022, at 1444 hrs, a Heinen’s customer called BVPD to report there was a female in the parking lot that was berating and heckling customers for wearing masks. Officers responded to the area but the female had already left.
Door Dash Delivery Questioned
On 01/15/2022 hrs, at 1908 hrs, a resident in the 26000 block of Lake Rd. called BVPD to report he observed someone walking around his neighbor’s car. Officers responded to the area and spoke with the vehicles owner. Surveillance video confirmed someone was walking around her car, but nothing was tampered with. While checking the area an officer located a neighbor who admitted she was the one who walked around the car. She had walked up the driveway looking for a delivery from door dash that was possibly delivered to the wrong address. She was advised of the complaint. BVPD reminds residents to please call when you see something suspicious.
Drugs and Gun
On 01/15/2022, at 2049 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Vineland near East Oakland for a traffic violation. After speaking with the 27-yoa male driver, the officer suspected there were drugs in the vehicle. As the officer was advising the driver he was going to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle, the driver admitted there was a loaded handgun in the vehicle. The driver was detained while the vehicle was searched. During the search a loaded handgun, drugs, and drug paraphernalia were located. The Cleveland resident was arrested and will be charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, and several drug and traffic charges. He will face charges at RRMC.

After speaking with the 26-yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The North Ridgeville resident will face charges at RRMC.
And Yet Again….
On 01/16/2022, at 0309 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Columbia Rd. at Eaton Way for a traffic violation. After speaking with the-24 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The Willowick resident will face charges at RRMC.
