No-Goodniks Strike in Westlake

Westlake Police report this week that some no-goodnik in South Birmingham, UK withdrew $900 from a Dellwood Dr. woman’s bank account between June 11-13. The suspect in Old Blighty apparently cloned the victim’s debit card.

Both doors on the driver’s side of an Elyria woman’s 2011 Kia station wagon were keyed on June 15. She found the damage at 2:16AM when she was leaving her office on Center Ridge Rd. No suspects.

A 66-year-old Elyria man with an affectation for one sort of clean living stole $109 worth of laundry detergent from a Detroit Rd. store on June 15 at 3:55PM. He then went across the street and stole $149 worth of bed sheets and spice racks from another store. He also was driving a stolen 2001 Ford pickup truck. He further has a pending RRMC case stemming from a May 2013 theft of laundry soap in Rocky River. His newest charges are 2 cts. of Petty Theft and 2 cts. of Possession of Criminal Tools (the modified clothing he uses to conceal the stolen property) and RSP for the stolen truck.

A 44-year-old Mayfield Hts. woman with a long list of aliases and arrests stole 2 speakers (total value $400) from a Crocker Pk. Blvd. store on June 15 at 6:31PM. She tried to ditch them in a parking garage, just like she ditched her 12-year-old daughter by leaving her behind in the store. Mom was arrested for Theft x2, Possession of Criminal Tools (the purse she hid the speakers in), Criminal Trespass, Child Endangering, and Obstructing Official Business (for running away when told to stop).  County Children’s Services was notified of the incident.

A 33-year-old Cleveland woman struck a curb in a Detroit Rd. work zone on June 15 at 11:10PM. She was found to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested for OVI and Failure to Control. Her 5 and 13-year old children were with her at the time; they were released to a sober relative. Their presence in the car earned her an additional Child Endangering charge

A Bay Village man’s 2004 Chevrolet Blazer had the driver’s window broken on June 16 between 3:30PM-4:15PM. Nothing was taken; it was parked at Red Fitness on Columbia Rd.

Something we don’t hear every day: a North Ridgeville apiarist reported that her swarm of honey bees flew the coop (or is it hive) eastbound on June 17 at 1:03PM. She requested that she be contacted if anyone reports a new colony establishing itself.

 

15 and 19-year-old sisters were walking their dog along Richmar Dr. on June 18 at 2:20PM when a passing male motorist made them uncomfortable by staring at them. His description and vehicle were similar to those in a May 28 incident where a driver tried to get a teenage girl’s name and phone number while she walked in the same neighborhood. A 52-year-old Cleveland man driving a red Ford ranger pickup was stopped by a WPD officer on Hilliard Blvd. in Rocky River and admitted being in the area “trash-picking”, although no trash had been set out. The investigation continues.

2 sisters (one from Warrensville Hts. and the other from GA) had their purses stolen while at Dave and Busters on June 18. They thought they had lost the keys to their mom’s 2003 Toyota Avalon, but found them by the car; the unknown suspect(s) used the keys to take the purses from the trunk. Each had charges made on their respective stolen debit cards; the investigation continues.

A 49-year-old Westlake man was found walking on the I90 exit ramp to Crocker Rd. on June 19 at 1:56AM. He was shirtless, shoeless, and had one sock on. He was intoxicated and arrested for DCI. He urinated all over his cell walls and damaged a floor drain; that got him a Criminal Damage charge.

A Bradley Rd. woman’s blue bicycle (value $100) was taken from her garage possibly on June 18. A black boy’s Mongoose bike was left in her yard. No suspects.

A 21-year-old Westlake man’s backpack was taken from his unlocked locker at the Rec. Center on June 19 between 6PM-8:45PM. It contained his wallet, ATM card (cancelled by the victim), and clothing. The unknown suspect(s) also took the victim’s shoes off a bench.

An intoxicated 26-year-old North Ridgeville woman got a lot of practice throwing things on June 19 at 10PM. She was angry with her husband and created a disturbance in a Vine St. garage. She threw her phone at him and her driver’s license at one of the officers on scene. She was arrested for DCI.

A Willow Run woman was the victim of a telephone impostor pretending to be from her bank on June 14. The woman gave her credit card info to the caller; on June 20, her bank really did call her to ask about $604 in suspicious transactions. The card was cancelled; no suspects.

An Avon woman’s 2012 Chevrolet Cruze had the driver’s window smashed and $60 cash taken on June 20 between 8:30AM and 6:20PM. It had been parked at a Detroit Rd. home. No suspects.

A Westwood Rd. man found his phone lines cut on June 21 at 2:12PM. He suspects a female neighbor who was seen leaving the victim’s garage the previous evening. There is a history of trouble between the two households. The City Prosecutor will review the report for possible charges.

$8000 worth of camera equipment was stolen from a 2004 Chevrolet Classic between 6PM-9:44PM after the driver’s side rear window was broken out. It was parked at a Center Ridge Rd. business. No suspects.

A Westlake boy’s Iphone was taken while he was at Clague Park on June 23. He was able to track it on the Internet to a west side Cleveland neighborhood. No suspects.
