14-Year Old’s Phone Heisted by Drivers

A 14 year old Bay Village resident reported two males stole his I-phone on 8-21-2013 at 4:30pm.  He explained to officers that while he was riding his bike near Columbia and Lake, a white Pontiac-type car occupied by two black males, both approximately 18 years old, stopped and asked for directions to Westlake High School.  They then asked the boy if they could borrow his cell phone to make a call.  The boy handed one of the males his phone and the two drove away with the boy’s phone. Detectives are investigating a possible connection with two other similar thefts in the area.
On 8-21-2013 at 1:32am, an officer located two 18 year old white males in Reese Park discharging fireworks.  The officer also located in the vehicle traffic cones taken from Westlake.  Both males were cited and the traffic cones were returned to Westlake.

 

A Bay Village Officer observed a vehicle go through the red light on Columbia at Wolf on 8-21-2013 at 3:30am.  After the traffic stop, the officer observed signs of intoxication and the 22 year old female failed sobriety tests.  She was arrested and after processing, the female refused to sign release papers or be fingerprinted and remained in custody.  She was finally released 18 hours later after agreeing to sign release papers.  She is facing OVI charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

A 92 year old Bay resident was leaving Heinen’s on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 around noon when she was approached by a well-dressed black female with short black hair and an older white female with white hair.  The first female told the resident she found a container of money and wanted to split the money with the resident, but needed some “good faith money” from her first.  The femaleclaimed she worked across the street at a law office and her boss said she could keep the money.  The resident recognized this was a scam and continued on her way.

 

On August 23, 2013 at 12:28 am, a Bay Village Police officer attempted to make a traffic stop for a vehicle that failed to stop for a red light at Bradley and Wolf.  The violator continued without stopping, with its lights off, until he pulled the car into a drive on Bates.  One 24 year old male occupant and the 25 year old male driver ran from the vehicle and into a house while a third stayed outside with the car.  The third occupant was released at the scene.  The two males who ran into the house were arrested.  The second occupant was charged with Obstructing Official Business.  The driver, who threatened police officers and was uncooperative, was charged with OVI, Reckless Operation, Obstructing Official Business and Menacing in Rocky River Municipal Court.

 

An East Oviatt resident reported that their home was entered between August 23 and August 24, 2013 and items were missing.  Police are investigating.

 

A resident on Jefferson Court reported his patio furniture was stolen sometime in the early morning hours of 8-25-2013.
