Bay Police Halt Theft Spree

Two 17-year-old Bay Village residents were arrested on Wednesday morning, August 28, 2013 for committing numerous thefts from unlocked autos in Bay Village.

An alert Bay Village Police Officer noticed a suspicious male walking on Upland Road at approximately 2:30 am.  The male was stopped and found to be carrying a book bag stuffed with items stolen from vehicles in the area.

A second male was identified as being involved and was arrested hiding near his home on Columbia Road shortly after 8:00 am.  The second juvenile not only had in his possession stolen items, but a search of his home turned up additional stolen items.

Both juveniles will be filed on in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court for numerous property thefts.

Approximately 13 residents residing between Columbia and Clague have filed reports with the Police Department.

The Bay Village Police Department is in possession of a large quantity of property that was likely stolen from unlocked vehicles between August 25th and August 28th.

Any resident who has not reported a theft or is looking for property taken during this time period is encouraged to call the Bay Village Police Department Detective Bureau at 440-871-0773.

The Bay Village Police reports there was no forced entry to any vehicles.  All entered vehicles were left unsecured.  The Bay Village Police would like to remind all residents to remove valuables from vehicles at night and lock the doors.
