Mercy Foundation of Lorain County hosted its ninth annual fundraiser extravaganza, Taste of Friendship, Friday evening in the atrium of the Medical Office Building at Mercy Regional Medical Center, located at 3600 Kolbe Road, Lorain.
Taste of Friendship began in 2004 by Dr. Mario Sertich and his wife, Mary Lynn. Over the years, the community has generously supported vitally important programs at Mercy through the Taste of Friendship event, including the Wound Care Center, the Women’s Health Center, the Center for Body, Mind and Spirit and the Mercy Health and Recreation Center.
The Mercy Foundation of Lorain County is pleased to announce that this year’s event benefits the new pediatric component of Mercy Regional Medical Center’s emergency department renovation, an exciting step in Mercy’s new partnership with University Hospital’s (UH) Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital to bring Rainbow Pediatric Emergency Services to the Lorain County community.
“This puts on on the cusp of something phenomenal for our community,” said Gilbert Palmer, MD, Mercy Medical Director and Section Head Emergency Medicine Department. “We are not only able to treat the top five causes of pediatric disease with excellence, but we have access to urgent transfer to University Hospitals main campus.”
Members of the community spent the evening mingling with friends and enjoying culinary delights from some of the area’s best chefs: Bruno’s Ristorante, Chez Francois, Crusher’s Catering, Deluca’s Place in the Park, Giuseppes Wine Cellar, Hyde Park, Sodexo, Sorrento, Sweets by Maggie, The Olive Scene, Wood & Wine, and Ziggy’s Pub & Restaurant!
The evening’s grand prize was a “trip to anywhere.” Subject to availability, one lucky raffle winner won a week-long timeshare and $1,000 airfare voucher.
The Mercy Foundation of Lorain County Board of Trustees extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the 8thannual Taste of Friendship event.
