In support of breast cancer awareness month, Mercy has launched their third annual community-wide “Live Pink” movement to engage the community in creative activities to build awareness for breast cancer and encourage women in Northeast Ohio to get an early detection screening mammogram.
Pink is the symbolic color of breast cancer awareness, and Mercy is enlisting businesses and individuals alike to join the Live Pink movement to generate creative pink activities. Businesses have committed to activities throughout October to heighten awareness of the disease. For community individuals, Mercy encourages their own pink activity such as hosting a pink party, decorating their home with pink or creating a video/artwork in support of breast cancer awareness.
Mercy has created a special website, www.MercyLivePink.org, where Live Pink participants can upload photos or videos of their pink-themed activities. The public can then vote on their favorite live pink submission. Mercy will give a grand prize of gift certificates to a local spa and restaurant to the business or individual who receives the most votes.
There is no donation or cost required to become a Live Pink partner.
Partners in Live Pink will be promoted on www.MercyLivePink.org and will have an opportunity to post photos or a video of their campaigns on the website. They will also materials to display at their place of business and, upon request, will be sent a quantity of informational pamphlets on breast cancer screenings to give to their customers to help support awareness within the community.
