On 10-23-2013 the son of elderly parents who reside in Bay Village reported a caregiver stole checks from his parents’ home. The checks were cashed locally. Detectives are investigating.
Vehicle Break-in Arrests
An Oakmoor Road resident called police at 12:19 am on 10-25-2013 and described three males breaking into her neighbor’s vehicle. Police responded and stopped a vehicle seen leaving the area and occupied by three young males. Two other young adult males, who were associated with the three males in the car, were also located in the area on foot. Items stolen from vehicles were located in the males’ car. Arrested and charged with theft, trespassing, drug offenses and contributing to the delinquency of a minor were four 18-20 year old adults. A 17 year old male was arrested for theft, trespassing and a drug offense and will be charged in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. Some property has not yet been identified and residents are encouraged to check their vehicles for any missing property and contact Bay Village Police. BVPD would also remind everyone to please lock vehicles so as not to provide easy opportunity for these young thieves.
On 10-25-2013, a Bay Village resident discovered he had never received his State of Ohio tax refund check from 2010. While checking on this tax return, he discovered from the IRS that someone had fraudulently used his information to file a tax return in his name. Detectives are investigating.
A Bradley Road resident reported that on Saturday night some Halloween decorations and a bench were damaged in her yard.
A Bay Village Police Officer on patrol was nearly side-swiped by a vehicle on Columbia Road on 10-27-2013 at 10:30 pm. The vehicle was seen driving erratically and stopped on Lake Road. The driver failed sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. The male driver will face charges in Rocky River Municipal Court for OVI, Driving under Suspension and various other traffic charges.
