Drunk Drivers had Bay Police seeing double over the weekend!

On Feb 7 , at 1:15 a.m., a Bay Village Police officer was behind a vehicle on Wolf Rd. near Dover Center that was weaving within its lane.

As he was following this vehicle, the officer noticed the vehicle behind him was also weaving.

He advised another BVPD officer about the second vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle he was following on Ednil near Saddler.

After speaking with the female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result the 44-yoa Bay Village resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

At about the same time, a BVPD officer located the other weaving vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Walker Rd.  After speaking with the male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the 65-yoa Avon Lake resident was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

Sidewalk Mistaken for Street

On 02/03/2014, at 2129 hrs, a BVPD officer located a vehicle stuck in the front yard of a Nantucket Row house.  There was a male sitting in the vehicle and a female trying to dig the car out.  According to the 53-yoa male, he was leaving his girlfriend’s and somehow wound up in the front yard (it appeared as thought he mistook the sidewalk for the roadway).  After speaking with the male, the officer suspected that the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, Kevin Inman, of Elyria, was arrested for OVI.  With five prior convictions for OVI, this increased the charge to a Felony OVI.  Inman will face charges at RRMC and at Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.

More OVIs!

On 02/03/2014, at 0046 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Saddler for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as result, the 27-yoa Lakewood resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges for OVI.

On 02/07/2014, at 2036 hrs, BVPD officers responded to a two car MVA on Lake Rd. at Rockledge.  The accident was reported by a Metro Park Ranger, who stated he believed the at fault party was intoxicated.  When officers arrived they spoke with the female driver who caused the accident.  Officers suspected she had been drinking, and administered field sobriety tests.  As a result, the 55-yoa Lakewood resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

On 02/09/2014, at 0313 hrs, a BVSD plow driver reported a vehicle was stuck in a snow pile on Woodlane.  Police spoke with the female driver who stated she lost control of her vehicle about 30 minutes ago, and wound up stuck in the snow.  She and her female passenger did not know where they were, and hadn’t been able to contact any friends to help them, so they decided they were just going to sleep in the car until morning.  Officers suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the 21-yoa Elyria resident was arrested fro OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.  The 24-yoa passenger admitted she was intoxicated, and made arrangements for a ride.

Beer Quest

On 02/06/2014, at 1639 hrs, a Forestview resident called to report two juvenile males were walking around the backyard of the vacant house next to him.  Police eventually tracked down the juveniles who admitted they were on the property.  They were looking in a refrigerator for beer.  They were strongly advised and turned over to their parents.
