Westlake City Schools has launched a new section to the Westlake City Schools website.
Its purpose is to help answer questions from community members about the district. It has a section that allows readers to address questions to the district.
“As you know, with the defeat of our levy we have had to make some very difficult decisions. We want to be transparent and we want to be certain that everyone has the facts about the district and the steps we are taking to reduce our budget,” writes Westlake Schools Communication Officer Kim Bonvissuto.
The new web page is intended to be a one-stop “go to” place for residents to get the facts about school finance and academics.
The site is also intended to correct misinformation that has been circulating in the community, according to the news release.
Here is the new Westlake Schools link:
Voters have not passed an operating levy in Westlake since 2006. People have a lot of questions about reductions the district is making as a result. The new web page is designed to explain not just the cuts, but the broader context of how the district is using its resources. Westlake Schools will update the information regularly as new issues come up.
The section addresses a wide range of Westlake Schools issues, from finances to salaries to questions on buildings. There is also an area for readers to submit questions to the district.
