Westlake Police report that 74-year-old Robert Godwin of Cleveland has been identified as the suspect in the shooting incident which occurred April 5 at 30700 Center Ridge Rd.
Godwin had a past dispute with Elios Financial Group, located in that building. He was arrested on April 9 without incident.
A .38 cal revolver was recovered during a consent search of his home; search warrants for his two impounded vehicles have been obtained.
He will be arraigned April 11 on firearms-related charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
The event took place on Sat., April 5. A call to Westlake Police was received at 12:05 p.m. The caller reported that a business at 30700 Center Ridge Road was hit by gunfire. Police report a second shot was fired in their direction when they arrived. No injuries were reported. Center Ridge was closed between Magnolia Parkway and Bradley Road. Residents were advised to stay indoors while police determined the source of the gunfire. The Westshore Enforcement Bureau SWAT team was activated. K9 and Mounted Units were also deployed. Westlake Police re-opened the area to traffic late that afternoon.
