Cara’s Fashion Show for Mercy Foundation is a Success!

The Mercy Foundation of Lorain County extends heartfelt thanks to the greater Lorain community for making the second annual Cara’s Boutique fashion show such a success on Thursday, April 24. The sold-out “Spring Splendor” event was a celebration of spring fashion and accessories. A portion of the evening’s sales benefitted the Mercy Center for Body, Mind and Spirit, located at the UH Seidman Cancer Center at Mercy in Elyria.

The event was also a celebration of cancer survivors – several of the show’s models are  former cancer patients, and artwork created by patient participants in the art therapy classes offered at the Mercy Center for Body, Mind and Spirit was on display.

“This year, we raised over $1300 for the Mercy Center for Body, Mind and Spirit,” said Mary Climer of Cara’s. “Our models for the evening were volunteers who have ties to Mercy or are friends of Cara’s Boutique.  All the clothing modeled were spring fashions available at Cara’s Boutique and all the jewelry and handbags were from Cara’s Boutique’s Brighton collection. We had a record breaking crowd and fun was had by all.”

Mary Climer and Paulette Lisy opened Cara’s 21 years ago and doubled the size of the store in 2012.

The goal of the Center for Body, Mind and Spirit at the Mercy Cancer Center is to enhance quality of life by focusing on the psychological, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of healing. Programs and services are free to anyone touched by cancer, and are funded in part by community events such as the fashion show.

Cara’s is located in the Promenade at Crocker Park, 30179 Detroit Road, Westlake, 44145.

The Mercy Foundation of Lorain County is located at 3700 Kolbe Road, Lorain, 44053.

About Cara’s Boutique

Cara’s Boutique has been in this same location for 21 years.  “We doubled the size of the store 3 years ago,” said Mary Climer, co-owner with Paulette Lisy. “We opened Cara’s Boutique after many years as buyers and division leaders with The May Co., Dillard’s and Higbee’s.” At the time they were planning Cara’s, Paulette was expecting her second child, which she thought was going to be a girl, Cara.  What a surprise when Alec was born.  Since both ladies have two sons each, “Cara is our ‘little girl,’” laughs Mary.

Cara’s Boutique has a large assortment of the hottest brands, Alex and Ani, Brighton, Pandora, Natural Life, Nora Fleming, Vera Bradley, Spartina and many many more. All the clothing modeled were spring fashions available at Cara’s Boutique and all the jewelry and handbags were from Cara’s Boutique’s Brighton collection.
