Running with the Dogs at the Love-A-Stray 5K

Just “Fur Fun!”

Love-A-Stray’s “Fur Fun” 5K for runners and their dogs celebrated its third running last Sunday at Avon Lake High School.

Hundreds of runners – many with their dogs – jogged, ran, trotted and galloped over the 3.1 mile course in an important fundraiser for Love-A-Stray – the  non-profit, all volunteer, no-kill organization dedicated to helping homeless animals.

Since Love-A-Stray doesn’t have a “physical” shelter and the animals it takes are housed in foster homes, they do not have some of the usual operating expenses that would be required for a shelter. Consequently adoption fees, fundraising efforts, and donations go directly to a great cause – the animals!

Love-A-Stray has save many, many animals over the years and relies on the generosity of folks like this year’s participants to have fun and also fund an important cause.

Ryan Seballos was winner of the Fur Fun 5K in 17:25. He did not run with a dog, but he did run like he was being chased!
