Bay Police: Bicyclist Struck by Suspected OVI Driver

Several 911 callers to Bay Village Police reported that a silver 2 door vehicle struck a bicyclist on Walker Rd. near Plymouth, and then fled the scene westbound on Walker Rd. on On 06/06/2014, at 0852 hrs,.BVPDand Avon Lake responded to the scene.  The 27 yoa victim was quickly transported to the hospital for his injuries.  Officers began searching the area for vehicle, and located it parked and occupied on Leeward in Avon Lake.  After speaking with the 29 yoa female operator, officers suspected she had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Cleveland Hts. resident was taken into custody.  She will face charges at RRMC.

 

Arrest for Active Warrant

An off duty officer called to report there was a male at the Convenient store who had an active warrant with BVPD on June 3.  The caller observed the male with the warrant get into the passenger seat of a vehicle and leave the parking lot.  A BVPD officer stopped the vehicle on Cahoon near Osborn.  The officer spoke with driver and passenger of the vehicle, and confirmed the passenger did have an active warrant with BVPD.  The 49 yoa passenger was taken into custody without incident.  After speaking with the 63 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Lakewood resident was taken into custody for OVI.  Both will face charges at RRMC.

 

More OVI’s

On 06/03/2014, at 2004 hrs, a motorist called BVPD to report a possible OVI driving northbound on Dover Center.  Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in Cahoon Park near the skate park.  After speaking with the 65 yoa driver, the officers suspected the male had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Bay Village resident was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 06/05/2014, at 0211 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Forest near Wolf Rd. for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 27 yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result the Lakewood resident was arrested for OVI.  He also had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession.  He will face charges at RRMC.

 

Up on the Roof

Remember the old Temptations song ‘Up on the Roof?’ On 06/07/2014, at 1850 hrs, a resident called to report there was a group of juveniles on the roof of Normandy School.  Officers responded, and located 4 juveniles setting off fireworks on the roof.  Charges for Criminal Trespassing and fireworks will be filed on them in CCJC.
