Suspect Named in Dover Gardens Car Crash

101030Westlake Police have identified the suspect in last night’s Dover Gardens Car Crash as Brandon L. Pawlak (date of birth 5-9-88)  of Cleveland. Police report he has not had a valid license since 2004. Westlake Police report they have an Aggravated Robbery warrant for him. Past criminal history items include felony fleeing from Cuyahoga County in 2011, report Police. They add he has warrants from Brookpark and Linndale Police. He is not in custody through Westlake. Avon Lake Police will initiate, say police.

Avon Lake Police have also issued a release:

“On October 23rd the Avon Lake Police Department received a call advising that someone was attempting to gain entry into a vehicle parked at the Sweetbriar Golf Course located at 750 Jaycox Road. Prior to this Department’s arrival, the subject gained access to the vehicle and two vehicles then fled southbound on Jaycox Road.

“The stolen vehicle was subsequently located by the Avon Police Department, and a chase ensued into Westlake.

“The Avon Lake Police Department is charging the two subjects listed below with the following:

“Brandon Pawlak, 26 YOA, Cleveland Ohio, is being charged with:

– Attempted Theft

– Criminal Tools

– Breaking & Entering

“Matthew Sowden, 26 YOA, Cleveland Ohio, is being charged with:

– Complicity to Grand Theft

– Attempted Theft

– Criminal Tools

– Breaking & Entering

“Additional charges are anticipated from both the Avon and Westlake Police Departments.”

Update from Avon Lake Police (10-24-14, 6:37 p.m.):

“To clarify; Pawlak was driving the stolen vehicle that was involved in the chase, and was the only occupant. Sowden was driving a separate vehicle, which was not involved in the chase, nor was it stolen.”
