Bay, Avon Football Teams Head to Playoffs

Both the Bay High and Avon High football teams are headed to the first round of the OHSAA playoffs this Friday night.

Bay, rated 7th in Div. 4 Region 1l, will take on Mantua Crestwood (9-1) at Crestwood Friday evening. Crestwood is the second seed.

Avon (9-1) will face host Medina Highland (8-2) also on Friday as the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively, in Div. ll Region 4.

Bay met Avon in a West Shore Conference and regular season finale at Avon Friday night. Avon won, 24-6, Bay went on top first to enter the second quarter with a 3-0 lead. But Avon’s depth and experience shifted momentum as the field position game swung towards the Eagles in the second half. Avon ends the year at 5-1 in the WSC while Bay went 3-3 in a memorable conference run that included an overtime thriller over Rocky River two weeks ago.
