St. Mary of the Woods held a groundbreaking ceremony, Tuesday, December 16 at 35755 Detroit Road, Avon.
The groundbreaking starts construction for a 20 bed expansion to the skilled nursing center projected to be completed in mid-2015.
St. Mary of the Woods currently consist of a 30 bed skilled nursing center, a 47 apartment assisted living community, and a 81 apartment independent living community.
“We are excited about expanding our continuing care community and meeting the needs of those who require short-term transitional rehabilitation after a hospital stay.” said Charles Rupert, Administrator.
According to Rupert, “The completed project will provide individualized care and services to 50 residents needing assistance with rehabilitation, post hospital recovery, and traditional skilled nursing services.
The Skilled Nursing Center is in the process of being named The Trails Transitional Care Unit at St. Mary of the Woods.
Star Construction is the general contractor coordinating the 11,000 square foot project and MKM Architecture + design is the architectural firm.

- All new rooms will be individually climate controlled

- New Courtyard with Meandering Path and Built-in Benches
- New “Center of Care” Nurse Station
- 4 New Family Welcome Lounges
