Bay Village Police nabbed a speeder clocked at 70 mph on Lake Road last week. On January 23, 2015 at 2:30 a.m., a Bay Village Police Officer was on patrol when he attempted to pull over a silver vehicle. The suspect vehicle was operating recklessly and was travelling in excess of 70 mph on Lake Road. The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped in Avon Lake. The operator, a 33 year old male, was arrested for OVI. On station, the male provided a breath sample with showed a .19% BAC. The male was also under suspension. He is facing multiple charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
IRS Scam Spotted
On January 21, 2105 at 9:50 am, the Bay Village Police Department received a call from a Huntington Woods Parkway resident. The resident reported she had been contacted by the I.R.S. who claimed they were going to file a lawsuit against her if she did not comply. The resident realized this was a scam and did not give any information.
School Bus Passing Violation
On January 22, 2015 at 1:31pm, the Bay Village Police Department received a complaint from a Bay Village Schools bus driver that the day before a vehicle passed her stopped school bus. The bus driver was able to record the license plate, make and model of the car, and a description of the driver. Bay Police were able to obtain the address of the operator. They visited the home and spoke with the mother of the 17 year old driver. His mother stated she would handle the discipline for the young driver.
On January 24, 2015 at 3:26am, the Westlake Police Department reported a possible intoxicated driver was northbound on Bradley Road heading into Bay Village. A Bay Police officer was in the area and stopped the vehicle on Naigle Road. The male operator, a 25 year old Avon Lake resident, failed sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the suspect refused to provide a breath sample. He is facing multiple charges at Rocky River Municipal Court including OVI, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
