DSC_1963-2Joan Kemper, Bay Village Clerk of City Council and Secretary to the City’s Boards and Commissions, was honored for an incredible 50 years of public service at the Jan. 26 meeting of City Council.

Mayor Deborah Sutherland presented Joan with a special City Proclamation recognizing her many years of civic service, starting as a police dispatcher. Other commendations followed from Cuyahoga County Councilman Dave Greenspan, Ohio Rep. Nan Baker and the Office of Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.

Westlake City Council Clerk Denise Rosenbaum and Aimee Pientka, Strongsville Clerk of Council, presented Joan with a special award and a book filled with greetings from well-wishers, colleagues and associates.

Joan responded with “a very large expression of appreciation to all who came to my 50th anniversary of public service.  I can’t even begin to tell you how surprised and overwhelmed I am at the wonderful turnout and how much I care for all of you, and how deeply grateful I am for your support.

“If God grants me more days and energy, I will continue to be your public servant, working with gratitude to Him for the opportunity to be part of your lives,” she said.
