DSC_8022-2Betty celebrated her 100th birthday on Wed., April 22, with a festive party at The Normandy Apartments in Rocky River.

Betty has been a resident of The Normandy for 14 years. The party room was filled with friends from both the Normandy residence and the community.

“I have always been healthy, and I have lived a placid life,” said Betty when asked about her recipe for longevity.  “And I have lived here for 14 years and have never been in want for anything.”

Family members on hand included her grandson Dan Huckleberry and his wife, Christine.

The party room was vibrant with music and conversation. More than 50 guests shared memory cards of their best reminiscences of Betty. A large placard carried a reproduction of The Cleveland Press from April 21, 1915. It was the day of the Cleveland Indians home opener at League Park. Play money added to the fun with Betty’s picture on $100 dollar bills. And, of course, there was a large birthday cake for Betty, and she even blew out the candles.

A great day for a great lady. Happy Birthday. Betty Huckleberry!
