One of the reasons St. Mary of the Woods in Avon has received the US News and World Report 2015 Best Nursing Home designation is because of the caring environment created for residents.

Last month, St. Mary residents were treated to an a cappella concert by the Northern Cascade Chordsmen, an award winning Lorain County contingent of talented singers.

Skilled Nursing Expansion
St. Mary of the Woods also celebrated the opening of its new 20-bed skilled nursing expansion this summer.
The Trails Transitional Care Unit features 11,000 square feet in new construction. 12 new private suites and 4 split-private suites are tastefully decorated and individualized with in-suite Euro Spas and climate control. There are also expanded dining rooms, a new courtyard with benches highlighted with planting around a captivating fountain and a new ‘Center of Care’ nursing station.
“This has truly been built with rehabilitation in mind,” said St. Mary of the Woods Administrator Charles Rupert.
Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen joined with St. Mary of the Woods officials in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Once known as a farming town, the city of Avon has transformed into a vibrant and thriving area where the town’s residents can find everything they need. St. Mary of the Woods is one of those places where life-long members of the community can continue to feel at home. “And we want you to feel at home in Avon,” said Mayor Jensen to all in attendance from St. Mary of the Woods and Atrium Living Centers. “Welcome.”
