32-year-old Jaclyn WINTERBORNE of Medina was struck by a 1997 Jeep Wrangler on December 27, 2015 at 2:03 PM while she was on foot on the first floor of the Union garage (55 Vine St.). She suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. John Medical Center by Westlake Fire Department.
WINTERBORNE was subsequently airlifted to Metrohealth where she later died. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will rule on the manner, means, and cause of death.
The Jeep was driven by a 21-year-old Lorain man; drugs and/or alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash, nor is speed. When the investigation is complete, the Westlake City Prosecutor will rule on the matter.
In the 911 call to police the caller says, “I need an ambulance right now here at Crocker Park a woman just got hit in the head by a car.”
The caller reported the woman was bleeding from her ears, nose and mouth.
Emergency workers asked the caller if the victim was conscious and he did not know but was breathing.
The caller reported the accident occurred next to the cinema on the ground floor of the garage.
