Avon Lake Police Officers responded to the area of Vanda Avenue for a report of two (02) dogs fighting on Thurs., Feb. 18. The dogs were separated prior to arrival, and the aggressive dog was subsequently taken to the Avon Lake Kennel.
Witnesses state that “Piglet” (8 year old male, Pitbull mix) slipped its chest harness and charged “Bailey” (Wheaton Terrier) as it was being walked on a leash. Both dogs began fighting, with the Pitbull eventually grabbing hold of the Wheaton Terrier by the scruff of the neck.
After the dogs finally separated, “Piglet” was able to be secured and subsequently taken to the Avon Lake Kennel.
The subject walking “Bailey” was treated for dog bites received from “Piglet” as she was attempting to separate the two dogs. “Bailey” was taken to the Avon Lake Animal Clinic, and is currently being treated for lacerations received during the fight.
The Pitbull mix was voluntarily signed over to the Lorain County Dog Pound, and the owner is being cited for Animal at Large, 618.01A.
