An ecumenical prayer service is planned in Bay Village on the eve of the opening of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Individuals from all faiths and communities are invited to the service at Bethesda-on-the-Bay Lutheran Church, 28701 Wolf Road, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 17.
“It is our hope that this non-partisan and ecumenical service emphasizing peace, hope and humility will guide us as we respond to this major public event in Cleveland, as well as the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia,” says Pastor Robin Craig of Bethesda-on-the-Bay Lutheran Church.
“We want to prepare ourselves to continue to meet the pressures of an election year with dignity, civility and graciousness,” she says. “We are all the people of God, called into the public square in order to witness to God’s unfailing love.”
The service of scripture, prayer and song will include an ecumenical choir that will sing two anthems and lead the congregation.
