Westview Students Honor Those Who Serve

service-breakfast-westview-2-2In the spirit of Thanksgiving and showing appreciation and “thanks,” Westview Elementary School, 155 Moore Road, Avon Lake, hosted a Service Breakfast to “thank” those who serve our community for all they do. Dozens of Avon Lake police, fire and EMS personnel were invited to attend the breakfast on Nov. 22 at the school.

The mayor, superintendent and a council representative also attended.

Student Council members helped prepare and serve the breakfast, serving pancakes, sausage, juice and fruit. The entire student body made cards, decorations, etc. for the breakfast.

To fund a portion of the breakfast, Westview Student Council held a “Penny Wars” competition this month. Each class (grades K-4) competed by adding pennies and bills to glass jugs at the school. The response was overwhelming and the school raised more than $1,500 in one week.

Funds will sponsor the breakfast and be used towards a large project/item for the entire school to use in the future.
