Night-time Bicycler Severely Injured in Bay

Bay Village Police report that a member of a night-time bicycle group was severely injured the evening of Jann. 21 at 22:45 hours (10:45 p.m.). Bay Police received multiple 911 calls of an MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) involving a bicycle on West Oviatt, near Cahoon Road. Upon arrival, officers found about 20 people in or near the roadway. Several people were attending to an injured 58-year-old Bay Village resident who was lying on her back in the center of the roadway. There were numerous bicycles strewn about the area. It was quickly determined the people were a group of bicyclists out for a nighttime ride. The injured female had been riding eastbound on West Oviatt when she lost control of her bicycle and fell to the pavement. Fortunately, she was wearing a helmet, but still briefly lost consciousness. Marijuana Arrest

On January 18, 2017, at 00:04 hours, an officer stopped a vehicle at Wolf & Glen Park for a traffic violation. While talking to the driver the officer detected the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. Once the second officer arrived, the driver was given field sobriety tests. He failed and was arrested for DWI. The passenger was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. After being processed at the station, both Cleveland residents were released on bond to a sober adult.

On January 21, 2017, at 00:55 hours, an officer stopped a vehicle at Lake and Dover Center, suspecting the driver was impaired. Once the second officer arrived, the Bay Village resident was given the Standard Field Sobriety Tests. She failed and was arrested for DWI. After being processed at the station, she was released on bond to a sober adult.
