Four Arrested After Wild West Side Police Chase

A wild police chase that involved a stolen car from Avon Lake, attempted robbery in North Ridgeville and the discovery of stolen weapons came to an end in Westlake this morning as police arrested four juvenile suspects.

The action started at approximately 0400 hours when the North Ridgeville Police Department received a call from a resident on Stonegate Circle who reported observing subjects stealing items from his wife’s vehicle.

The caller was able to obtain the license plate of the vehicle the subjects entered as they fled the area.

It was learned at the time that the vehicle, a Lexus SUV, had been reported stolen from a residence in Avon Lake on May 30.

As officers responded to the area, they observed the stolen Lexus traveling north on SR 83 in the area of Sugar Ridge Rd. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it refused to yield.

A few moments later a Stonegate Circle resident reported a handgun and several loaded magazines had been stolen from his vehicle.

The Lexus was pursued eastbound on Center Ridge Rd through Westlake and into Rocky River. It traveled north to Detroit Rd and then changed direction and began traveling westbound. Stop sticks were successfully deployed several times during the pursuit and the Lexus was finally brought to a stop when an Ohio State Highway Patrol unit performed a PIT maneuver.

Four of the five occupants from the vehicle were apprehended at the time.

The subjects were determined to be juveniles and were later transported to the Lorain County Detention Home.

The Lexus, the stolen firearm and numerous other recovered stolen items were transported to the North Ridgeville Police Department.

North Ridgeville Police Department was assisted by Westlake Police, Rocky River Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol during this incident.
