Tri-C Showcases Economic Potential of 3D Printing

Conference will be held Sept. 21-22 at Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland

Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) sees the future of manufacturing in 3D.

The College will present the third annual Regional 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Conference on Sept. 21-22 to highlight the industry’s potential to drive economic growth. The event will be held at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

The conference — dubbed R3D@Tri-C — is designed for companies looking to enter the additive manufacturing field or enhance existing operations. Reports link use of the emerging technology with revenue and job growth in Northeast Ohio.

Additive manufacturing uses a digital model to create a three-dimensional object by repeatedly adding layers of materials. 3D printers can manufacture products of virtually any design complexity.

The conference begins Thursday night with a networking event and hands-on workshops.

Friday features exhibits and workshops focused on the latest advances in additive manufacturing technologies, product innovation and case studies reflecting best practices in the industry.

The day’s keynote speaker will be Jason Lopes, production development engineer at a revolutionary California company — Carbon — expanding the boundaries of 3D printing. Lopes previously worked at a firm that used additive manufacturing to make Hollywood movie magic.

Registration for R3D@Tri-C is $145, which includes meals, presentations, exhibits and activities. Reduced rates are available for groups and educators. For information, or to register, visit www.tri-c.edu/r3d or call 216-987-4424.

The Huntington Convention Center is located at 300 Lakeside Ave. in Cleveland.

Tri-C has emerged as a Northeast Ohio leader in additive manufacturing training. The College offers a. one-year certificate program in 3D digital design and additive manufacturing, as well as professional development courses geared toward those in the manufacturing industry.
