Avon East Elementary School Teacher Honored by Cavs

Congratulations to Avon East Elementary School first-grade teacher, Stephanie Heideman. She was named the ‘Head of the Class’ for the Cleveland Cavaliers for the month of April. Cavs reps came out today to surprise her with the honor.

Avon Heritage Elementary School teacher Anne Triplett and her son, William, nominated Heideman for the award (William is a student in the class). Cavs announcer, Ahmaad Crump presented Heideman with VIP passes to the April 11 Cav’s game and she will be celebrated during halftime, and serve as an honorary team captain. The Cavs also presented her with a $500 donation to use towards her classroom.

“I nominated Mrs. Heideman for this award because she is not only an amazing teacher, but also helps the students with their emotional and social needs and creates a loving environment for them to learn in,” said Triplett. “My son has gone through a lot this year and had several surgeries during the school year. Mrs. Heideman went above and beyond to be there for him. She goes above and beyond to take care of all her students. As a teacher myself, I see what she does in the classroom to assist many students who have a vast array of needs. The kids adore her.”
