Are you interested in learning more about daylilies? If you are, we have the perfect program to help you do that. Come hear Mr. Ken Anderton of Ken Anderton Gardens as he discusses daylilies on Tuesday, November 20, at the Avon Garden Club meeting at 7 p.m. in the Orchid Room at Miller Nature Preserve at 2739 Center Rd, Avon, OH 44011.
Mr. Anderton grows over 200 varieties of daylilies, the flowering plants of the genus Hemerocallis, on his one and three-quarter acre property in North Ridgeville. Ken has been growing daylilies since the 90’s. Flourishing on his current property is an oasis of daylilies including diploids (dips), tetraploids (tets), and spiders, and varieties that do not fit into standard categories (ufo’s). Thriving in his gardens are examples of daylilies that have been hybridized for height, scent, ruffled edges, contrasting “eyes” in the center of a bloom, and “diamond dust” which is a feature that gives an illusion of glitter.
Come and learn more about these fascinating plants which have varieties that bloom early in the spring and summer, midsummer, and later on in the season. Direct inquiries to Cynthia at (440) 937-0037.
